Preservation And Maintenance Of A Leather Purse – How To Clean It Efficiently

If you find a stain on your favorite bag, do not hurry to dispose of it. Even if they say that not all stains can be removed without trace, even some natural remedies worth trying.

Always test on an area less or no visible of the bag, possibly inside. Leather or vinyl bags can be cleaned with soap and water.

When cleaning a leather bag, remember that skin needs to breathe. If you suffocate the skin with an inappropriate cleaning solution or you allow a stain to harden or dry, the skin can dry out, to lose color or even crack. Do not use synthetic cleaning products or those made from petroleum.


The leather can be cleaned with an onion: cut an onion in half and with the interior of it clean the smudged place thoroughly. Then, using a soft cloth, polish the skin.

Also, leather bags can be cleaned with a cloth soaked in a mixture of water, soap and ammonia. After the stain removal procedure, processed the place with a cloth soaked in castor oil.

Another way to remove the stain on a leather case is using a moisturizer. Apply the cream on the skin for 20-30 minutes, and then remove it with a clean cloth.

White leather purse will be cleaned using an onion, then it will be refreshed with some milk over which was added a beaten egg white.

Clean black bag with a wool pad soaked with coffee grounds. When skin dries, wipe with a dry cloth.

It is recommended that suede leather purse be cleaned with a special brush. If on the surface of the bag appeared some shiny spots, you can remove with a mixture of warm milk and soda (a teaspoon of soda in a glass of milk).


1. Do not store leather purse in plastic bags, the skin should have access to air.
2. Do not leave bags in the sun or light. The color may change.
3. Do not dry a leather purse on the radiator because they may lose their shape.
4. Do not use in cleaning the bags acetone or other solvents.
5. Do not carry heavy things in a leather purse because it will deform.
6. Do not spray perfume on the purse.
